Screen, voice and camera recorder
Webcam recorder
Record video from your webcam or your phone's front camera right in the browser. See the live picture to frame yourself, pause and carry on, preview the result, then download it. Your picture and sound are not sent anywhere.
This tool needs JavaScript. If you still see this note after a few seconds, the browser has JavaScript switched off or the page did not load fully. Switch JavaScript on or reload the page.
How to use
- Choose the camera, the sound, the size and the quality, then press "Open the camera". The browser asks whether to allow the camera and microphone: choose "Allow" (if you only want the picture, choose "No sound" first).
- Check the live picture and the level bar, then press "Record". The clock counts the time and the file size. Press "Pause" to rest and "Resume" to carry on in the same file.
- Press "Stop and watch". The camera and microphone are switched off at once (the camera's status light goes out), and you can play what you recorded in the player below.
- If you like it, press "Download": the file called freesabai-webcam-date-time is in your downloads folder. If not, press "Record again".
Nothing leaves your device
The picture and sound you record stay in your browser. They are not uploaded to freesabai's server or anyone else's, they are not saved anywhere until you press Download, and they are gone when you close the page. We ask for the camera and microphone only when you press "Open the camera", and switch both off as soon as you stop recording, close the camera or leave the page (the camera's status light goes out). The website only counts how many times this page is opened and how many times a result is saved (it never sends a file name, size or content, and you can switch the counting off at the foot of the page; see the privacy policy).
Good to know
- Which file types you can choose depends on the browser. Chrome, Edge and Firefox give WebM; Safari gives MP4; some browsers offer MP4 too. The text under the list says what opens each kind. WebM plays in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and VLC, but Windows Media Player and most iPhones cannot play it directly.
- For a file that opens everywhere, use a video converter to turn the WebM into MP4 (H.264). This tool does not convert, because it never sends your video anywhere and an in-browser converter is big and slow.
- The preview may be mirrored like a mirror, so framing yourself is easier. The recording is not mirrored. Switch the mirroring off with "Mirror the view".
- A long recording takes memory. The tool keeps the video in pieces of one second and warns you as the file grows (about 150 MB on a phone, 600 MB on a computer). Chrome and Edge on a computer have a "Save to a file while recording" option that writes straight to disk, so you can record as long as the disk has room. "Normal" quality uses about 20 MB a minute.
- If you close or reload the page while recording, what has not been saved is lost. The browser asks before it leaves the page.
- If the browser does not ask, or says it is blocked, click the lock icon beside the address and allow the camera and microphone. On Windows and Mac the system privacy settings must also let the browser use the camera.
- Phones: both the front and back cameras work (choose from the camera list after you have allowed it). On an iPhone use a recent Safari or Chrome, and do not switch to another app or lock the screen while recording, or the recording stops.
- The WebM files this makes carry their length, so players can show how long they are and let you skip around.
