Compress images
Make JPG, PNG and WebP files smaller: set the quality yourself, or ask for a file not over a size you need, such as 200 KB for a form with a limit. See before and after, and do several pictures at once. It runs in your browser and your pictures are not uploaded.
This tool needs JavaScript. If you still see this after a few seconds, JavaScript is switched off in your browser or the page did not load completely: turn JavaScript on or reload the page.
How to use it
- Press "Choose pictures" or drop them here. Pick several at once if you like.
- Choose "Set the quality myself" or "Make the file not over a size", then press "Compress".
- Look at the sizes before and after and compare the pictures, then press "Download" on a picture, or download them all as a zip.
Your pictures never leave your device
This tool opens the pictures from your device, works on them in your browser's memory and saves new files straight back to your device. Nothing is uploaded to freesabai's servers or anyone else's, and no picture or file name is kept: close the page and it is all gone. The site only counts how many times this page is opened and how many times a result is saved, never a file name, size or content, and you can switch the counting off at the bottom of the page (see the privacy policy).
Good to know
- JPG and WebP are made smaller by dropping detail the eye can hardly see. A PNG is made smaller by reducing its colours, which suits logos, screenshots and drawings. A photo as PNG is very big; as JPG it is several times smaller.
- Size mode: a picture already smaller than the goal keeps a high quality. One too big to reach by quality alone is made a little smaller step by step (10% at a time) until it fits, and it tells you what size it ended at.
- The file you get has no EXIF (GPS place, camera, date) because the picture is drawn again; we checked the files it makes. The way up from the EXIF is applied first, so a portrait photo stays upright.
- If the original is already small, the result may not be smaller. The tool says so; just keep the original.
- An animated GIF or WebP becomes a still picture, its first frame only.
- A picture with a wide colour profile (such as Display P3) is converted to sRGB and the profile is not kept, so colours may shift slightly.
- A very large picture on a phone (over about 16 million pixels) is brought down to what the device can hold as it is opened; use a computer for the full size. Reducing the colours of a big PNG takes several seconds; the page does not freeze because it works in the background.
- If you only need fewer pixels, use Resize image. To remove the GPS place without touching the picture at all, use View and remove EXIF.
