View and remove EXIF from pictures
Photos often hide the place they were taken, the camera and the date inside the file. See what is hidden, then save a clean copy before you share it. The picture itself is not compressed again. It runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
This tool needs JavaScript. If you still see this after a few seconds, JavaScript is switched off in your browser or the page did not load completely: turn JavaScript on or reload the page.
How to use it
- Press "Choose pictures" or drop them here. Each picture tells you at once what is hidden in it; press "What is inside" for the details.
- Choose whether to keep which way up the picture is (recommended).
- Press "Remove all hidden data and save". The new file, named
original-name-clean, goes to your downloads; several pictures come as one zip.
Your pictures never leave your device
This tool opens the pictures from your device, works on them in your browser's memory and saves new files straight back to your device. Nothing is uploaded to freesabai's servers or anyone else's, and no picture or file name is kept: close the page and it is all gone. The site only counts how many times this page is opened and how many times a result is saved, never a file name, size or content, and you can switch the counting off at the bottom of the page (see the privacy policy).
Good to know
- The picture itself does not change. This tool does not decode or compress the picture again; it only cuts the hidden data out of the file. Quality and pixel size stay exactly the same, and the file gets a little smaller by the amount of data taken out.
- Removed: EXIF (GPS place, camera type and serial number, dates, the program that saved it, the thumbnail inside), XMP, IPTC/Photoshop data, comments, and the text notes in a PNG. Kept: the picture's colour profile (colours look wrong without it).
- It handles JPG, PNG and WebP. For other kinds (GIF, BMP, HEIC) use the Convert image tool, which draws the picture again and so carries no hidden data.
- Compressing, resizing, converting and cropping on this site also leave EXIF out. We checked the files they make.
- The place shown is read from the file on your device and goes nowhere. We do not open a map for it (so you do not have to tell a map site where you live).
- Some social sites strip EXIF when you upload, but not all of them, and not every way of sending a picture (e-mail, chat apps, cloud drives). Removing it yourself first is the safe way.
