How to use it
- Type the car price, the down payment (as a percent or an amount) and the yearly rate the finance company offers.
- Choose the number of months to get the monthly installment, the loan and the total interest at once.
- The table compares 48, 60, 72 and 84 months: a longer loan lowers the installment but raises the total interest.
How it is worked out
Most Thai car finance uses a flat rate: loan = price − down payment; total interest = loan × yearly rate × years; installment = (loan + total interest) ÷ months.
A car of 800,000 baht with 20% down (160,000) leaves a loan of 640,000. At 3% for 60 months (5 years) the interest is 640,000 × 3% × 5 = 96,000 and the installment is 736,000 ÷ 60 = 12,266.67 baht. With VAT ticked, the installment is × 1.07, to the satang.
Good to know
- These are estimates for planning, not financial advice. The real installment depends on the finance company: some round up to whole baht, some quote it with VAT, and there may be fees, insurance or registration on top. Check with the finance company before you sign.
- A 3% flat rate is not the same as 3% on a reducing balance: the interest is charged on the whole loan for the whole term, so the effective yearly rate is almost twice the quoted one.
- It works the same for motorbikes and other installment plans with a flat rate. Other percentages and VAT are in the percentage, discount and VAT calculator.
- Everything is worked out on your device; no number is sent anywhere.

Questions and answers
How is a flat rate different from a reducing balance?
A flat rate charges interest on the whole loan for the whole term, even on what is already paid back. A reducing balance charges only on what is left, so the same rate costs less.
Will the installment match my finance company?
Close, but maybe not exactly. Some round up to whole baht, quote it with VAT, or add fees and insurance. Check with the finance company before you sign.
Is a longer loan better?
The monthly installment goes down, but the total interest grows with every year. Compare 48 to 84 months in the table and pick what you can pay each month.
