How to use it
- Pick the card that matches your question and type the numbers. The answer appears without pressing anything.
- Thousands separators such as 1,290 and Thai digits are fine.
- Press "Copy" to paste the answer somewhere else.
How it is worked out
- x% of y = x × y ÷ 100, so 15% of 2,500 = 375.
- x as a percent of y = x ÷ y × 100, so 30 out of 200 = 15%.
- Change from a to b = (b − a) ÷ a × 100: 80 to 100 is up 25%, but 100 to 80 is down 20%.
- Two discounts: price × (1 − x/100) × (1 − y/100). 20% off and then 10% off leaves 0.8 × 0.9 = 72% of the price, which is 28% off in all, not 30%.
- VAT from a price with VAT: before VAT = price × 100 ÷ 107, rounded to the satang, and VAT is the rest, so 107 = 100.00 + 7.00. VAT on a price before VAT = price × 7 ÷ 100, rounded to the satang.
Money is worked out in satang (half rounds up at the second decimal), so the price before VAT plus the VAT always equals the price with VAT exactly.
Good to know
- Some tax invoices work out VAT on the whole bill, others line by line and then add up, so totals can differ by a few satang.
- Up 25% and then down 25% does not bring you back to the start, because the base of the percentage has changed.
- Paying for a car in installments? Try the car loan calculator. Need an amount in Thai words? Use numbers to Thai words.
- Everything is worked out on your device; no number is sent anywhere.

Questions and answers
Is 20% off and then 10% off the same as 30% off?
No, it is 28% off. The second discount comes off the already reduced price: 0.8 × 0.9 = 0.72, so you pay 72% of the full price.
How do I take 7% VAT out of a price?
Price before VAT = price with VAT × 100 ÷ 107, rounded to the satang; the rest is the VAT. 1,070 baht is 1,000.00 plus 70.00 VAT.
What is a percent change measured from?
Always from the old value: (new − old) ÷ old × 100. From 80 to 100 is up 25%, but from 100 to 80 is down 20%.
