Roll dice

Dice gone missing before a board game, or need some for class? Roll 1 to 10 at once, six-sided with pips like real ones or d4 d8 d10 d12 d20 for role-playing games, with the total added up every time.

How to use it

  1. Choose how many dice and which kind (six-sided with pips, or d4 to d20 shown as numbers).
  2. Press "Roll" or Space. The dice tumble briefly and stop; the total shows in big type.
  3. This session's rolls are listed below; copy them for your score sheet.

Every face has the same chance

Each die comes from your browser's cryptographic random generator, so every face is equally likely, with none of the bias of a badly made real die. Totals of several dice land in the middle more often than at the edges (7 is the most common with two dice); that is simply how sums work.

Only need yes or no? Flip a coin. Need another range, such as 1 to 100? Use the random number generator, and time each turn with the countdown timer.

Questions and answers

How many dice can I roll?

From 1 to 10 at a time, as six-sided dice with pips or as d4, d8, d10, d12 or d20 for board and role-playing games. The tool adds up the total and keeps a history.

Are the dice fair?

Every face has the same chance, drawn without bias from the browser's cryptographic random generator. The rolling is only an animation; the result is drawn first.

Can it replace lost dice?

Yes. Open it on a phone and tap Roll, or press Space or Enter on a computer. It works for snakes and ladders, Monopoly or games that need other dice.
