Colour converter: HEX, RGB, HSL

Enter a colour any way you like (#336699, rgb(51, 102, 153), hsl(210, 50%, 40%) or a name such as tomato) and get HEX, RGB and HSL to copy. Pick a colour by eye from the colour box. Transparency is supported. It runs in your browser.

This tool needs JavaScript. If you still see this after a few seconds, JavaScript is switched off in your browser or the page did not load completely: turn JavaScript on or reload the page.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste a colour, or press the colour box to pick by eye. The swatch and every code appear at once.
  2. You may add transparency, like #33669980 or rgba(51, 102, 153, 0.5).
  3. Press "Copy" on the code you want.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between HEX, RGB and HSL?

All three write the same colour. HEX and RGB give the amount of red, green and blue (0-255). HSL gives the hue (0-360 degrees on the colour wheel), the saturation and the lightness, which makes it easier to make a colour lighter or paler.

How do I write a transparent colour?

Use 8-digit HEX (#RRGGBBAA), rgba() or hsla(), or the newer rgb(51 102 153 / 50%). In HEX, AA runs from 00 (clear) to FF (solid).

Why does my colour have no name?

CSS has 148 colour names, such as tomato and steelblue. The tool shows a name only when your colour is exactly one of them.

Good to know

Your data stays on your device

Everything runs in your browser. What you type, paste or open is not sent to freesabai's servers or anyone else's, and is not kept in the browser: close the page and it is gone. The site only counts how many times this page was opened and how many times someone copied or saved a result (never what was pasted or the result, and you can switch the counting off in the footer; see the privacy policy).
