JSON to YAML converter

Paste JSON and get YAML at once. Key order is kept, long numbers are not rounded, and text a YAML reader might take for something else (like yes, no or 1e3) is quoted. It runs in your browser and your JSON is not sent anywhere.

This tool needs JavaScript. If you still see this after a few seconds, JavaScript is switched off in your browser or the page did not load completely: turn JavaScript on or reload the page.

How to use it

  1. Paste JSON in the left box, or open a .json file. The YAML appears on the right at once.
  2. If the JSON is wrong you get the line and the reason. If it was copied from code, tick "Repair common mistakes".
  3. Press "Copy", or "Download" a .yaml file.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the YAML for Kubernetes or Docker Compose?

Yes. The YAML is standard, indented by 2 spaces, and readable by tools that follow YAML 1.1 or 1.2. Text that looks like another kind of value, such as yes, on or 2026-10-10, is quoted so that it is not read as true or a date.

Why are keys that are numbers in quotes?

Keys in JSON are always text, so '10': ... is written in YAML to keep them text and not numbers.

Do very long numbers change?

Big whole numbers (like 12345678901234567890) are written with every digit. Decimals with more than 15 digits are rounded the way ordinary numbers are, and you are warned.

Good to know

Your data stays on your device

Everything runs in your browser. What you type, paste or open is not sent to freesabai's servers or anyone else's, and is not kept in the browser: close the page and it is gone. The site only counts how many times this page was opened and how many times someone copied or saved a result (never what was pasted or the result, and you can switch the counting off in the footer; see the privacy policy).
