Unix timestamp converter

Turn a Unix timestamp (epoch) into a readable date and back. Seconds, milliseconds, microseconds or nanoseconds: the tool guesses from the size of the number. Choose any time zone (daylight saving included), see ISO 8601, with the current time ticking. It runs in your browser.

This tool needs JavaScript. If you still see this after a few seconds, JavaScript is switched off in your browser or the page did not load completely: turn JavaScript on or reload the page.

How to use it

  1. Paste a timestamp in the first box (like 1700000000). The result appears at once. Or press "Use the current time".
  2. Choose the time zone. Your device's zone is the default; type a name like Asia/Bangkok or press UTC.
  3. Or enter a date and time in the second box (like 2026-10-10 12:00:00) to get the timestamp in seconds and milliseconds.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Unix timestamp?

The number of seconds since 00:00:00 UTC on 1 January 1970 (the epoch). It does not depend on a time zone, so computers keep time as one number that is easy to compare and calculate with. JavaScript and Java use milliseconds; Unix, Python and PHP often use seconds.

How does the tool know whether the number is seconds or milliseconds?

By its size. Up to 11 digits is seconds (until the year 5138), up to 14 is milliseconds, up to 17 is microseconds, and more than that is nanoseconds. If it guesses wrong, choose the unit yourself.

Why is the time different from what I expected, by hours?

A timestamp is in UTC. Shown in Thai time you add 7 hours (Asia/Bangkok is UTC+7, with no daylight saving). Choose the zone you want. When you type a date yourself with no zone, it is taken in the zone you chose.

Good to know

Your data stays on your device

Everything runs in your browser. What you type, paste or open is not sent to freesabai's servers or anyone else's, and is not kept in the browser: close the page and it is gone. The site only counts how many times this page was opened and how many times someone copied or saved a result (never what was pasted or the result, and you can switch the counting off in the footer; see the privacy policy).
