JSON to CSV converter
Paste a JSON list of objects (like an API returns) and get CSV that opens in Excel or Google Sheets. Nested objects become a.b columns, and Thai text stays intact when the BOM option is on. It runs in your browser and your JSON is not sent anywhere.
This tool needs JavaScript. If you still see this after a few seconds, JavaScript is switched off in your browser or the page did not load completely: turn JavaScript on or reload the page.
How to use it
- Paste JSON in the left box, or open a .json file (a list of objects such as
[{"id":1},{"id":2}], or{"data":[...]}). - Choose the separator (comma, semicolon, tab) and the other options. The CSV appears on the right.
- Press "Download" and open the file in Excel or Google Sheets.
Frequently asked questions
Thai text looks garbled when I open the CSV in Excel
Excel on Windows reads a CSV in the computer's legacy encoding unless the file starts with a BOM (a mark that says it is UTF-8). Keep "Add a BOM when downloading" ticked (it is by default) and the downloaded file opens with Thai intact.
What happens to nested objects and lists inside lists?
Nested objects become columns such as address.zip. Lists (arrays) are written as JSON text in one cell, because a table has no room for several values in a cell. Untick the option to keep each nested object in one cell as JSON text.
What is the "formula guard"?
If a value starts with =, +, - or @, Excel may run it as a formula when the file is opened, a weakness called CSV injection. If the data comes from other people, tick this option: it puts a ' before such values (negative numbers are left alone).
Good to know
- If the JSON is an object with a single list inside it (like
{"data":[...]}), that list is used as the table for you. - The columns are every key found, in the order first met. A row without that key has an empty cell.
- Numbers are written exactly as in the JSON (
13.70does not become13.7). - null becomes an empty cell, and true and false are written as the words.
Your data stays on your device
Everything runs in your browser. What you type, paste or open is not sent to freesabai's servers or anyone else's, and is not kept in the browser: close the page and it is gone. The site only counts how many times this page was opened and how many times someone copied or saved a result (never what was pasted or the result, and you can switch the counting off in the footer; see the privacy policy).
