Thai keyboard layout fixer
Typed Thai but forgot to switch the layout and got gibberish such as "l;ylfu"? Paste it here and get "สวัสดี" back, or the other way round: English typed while the keyboard was set to Thai. It uses the standard Kedmanee layout and detects the direction for you. It runs in your browser and the text is not sent anywhere.
This tool needs JavaScript. If you still see this after a few seconds, JavaScript is switched off in your browser or the page did not load completely: turn JavaScript on or reload the page.
See the Kedmanee layout used (the small pair is with Shift)
How to use it
- Paste the text typed on the wrong layout into the box on the left, for example l;ylfu.
- The result shows at once. The direction is detected for you (choose it yourself if it guesses wrong).
- Press "Copy" or "Download" to take the result.
Example
l;ylfu → สวัสดี
-v[86I → ขอบคุณ
xitgmLwmp → ประเทศไทย
4kKkwmp → ภาษาไทย
Frequently asked questions
What does "l;ylfu" turn into?
It turns into "สวัสดี", because on the keyboard the l key is ส, ; is ว, y is ั, l is ส, f is ด and u is ี. The tool pairs each key of the English (US) layout with the key in the same place on the Thai Kedmanee layout, with and without Shift.
Does it work for the Pattachote layout?
Not yet. It uses only Kedmanee, the standard Thai layout on Thai keyboards and Windows. If you type on Pattachote the result will not match.
Why are some symbols not changed when going from Thai to English?
Eleven characters ( / - _ % + " , . ( ) ? ) are on both layouts, so the tool cannot tell a plain symbol from a key of the Thai layout, and leaves them alone by default. Tick "Also convert the characters both layouts share" if the whole text was typed on the wrong layout (a password typed while the keyboard was Thai, for example).
Good to know
- Only the characters of the 94 keys are changed. Spaces, line breaks and other characters stay.
- The direction is detected by counting: more Thai letters than Latin letters means Thai → English, otherwise English → Thai.
Your data stays on your device
Everything runs in your browser. What you type, paste or open is not sent to freesabai's servers or anyone else's, and is not kept in the browser: close the page and it is gone. The site only counts how many times this page was opened and how many times someone copied or saved a result (never what was pasted or the result, and you can switch the counting off in the footer; see the privacy policy).
