Convert Excel to PDF
Turn a .xlsx file into a PDF, every sheet, with numbers, dates and percentages shown the way the cells format them. A wide sheet is shrunk or split over several pages. It all happens in your browser.
This tool needs JavaScript. If you still see this after a few seconds, JavaScript is switched off in your browser or the page did not load completely: turn JavaScript on or reload the page.
How to convert Excel to PDF
- Choose a .xlsx file, or drop it on the box.
- Press "Convert to PDF".
- Open the PDF and check that the numbers and columns are right.
Your files stay on your device
This tool opens the file from your device, lays it out and builds the PDF in your browser, and saves it back to your device. Nothing is uploaded and no file is kept.
Good to know
- Plain tables, not Excel's own printing. Each sheet becomes a table with thin lines and the sheet's name at the top of the page. Formulas show the value Excel saved. Single-colour cell fills and bold are kept; charts, pictures, merged cells, special borders, page setup and print areas are not. Hidden sheets are not converted.
- A sheet wider than portrait A4 goes landscape; if it is still too wide it is shrunk by up to about 60%, and beyond that split into strips of columns printed one after the other. A column too narrow for a number or date is widened to fit.
- The number formats that are supported are the common ones: decimals, thousands separators, percent, dates, times and text around the number (such as £). More complicated ones show as a plain number. Dates are shown with Western years.
- Only .xlsx (Excel 2007 or newer) can be read. Open an old .xls file and save it as .xlsx first. A file with a password cannot be read.
