How to repair a PDF

1. Choose the PDF that will not open, or drop it on the box.
2. Press "Try to repair and save".
3. Open the new file and check that it is all there. A page whose data is gone cannot be brought back.

Your files stay on your device

This tool opens the file from your device, repairs it in your browser's memory and saves the new file back to your device. Nothing is uploaded and no file is kept. Your original file is not changed.

Good to know

• As far as possible, with no guarantee. The tool reads what can still be read and saves it again with a whole structure. That works for files that are cut off, have a broken cross-reference table, or have junk data around them. A page whose data is gone cannot be brought back.
• If a normal repair is not possible but the browser can still draw the pages, you are offered a new file built from pictures of them (the text cannot be selected; OCR can add it again).
• A file locked with a password cannot be repaired without the password: unlock it first.
• A file that is not a PDF at all (such as one with the wrong extension) cannot be repaired.
