Favicon and ICO generator

Turn your logo into a site icon: a favicon.ico with several sizes in one file, or the full set of files for browsers, iPhone and Android, with the lines to put in your pages. It runs in your browser; your files are not sent anywhere.

Getting the tool ready…This tool needs JavaScript. If you still see this after a few seconds, JavaScript is switched off in your browser or the page did not load completely: turn JavaScript on or reload the page.

How to use it

  1. Choose your logo (a PNG with a see-through background, or an SVG, works best). Previews at 16, 32, 48 and 180 px show at once.
  2. If the picture is not square, pad it or crop the middle; choose the background and the sizes to put in favicon.ico.
  3. Press "Save favicon.ico" or "Save the full set (ZIP)", put the files at the root of your site and copy the code into <head>.

Good to know

Your files stay on your device

Everything runs in your browser. Your picture and the icons made are not sent to freesabai's server or anyone else's, and nothing is kept in the browser: close the page and it is gone. The site only counts that this page was opened and how many times a result was saved or copied (never the file name or content, and you can turn counting off at the bottom of the site; see the privacy policy).

Questions and answers

Which sizes should favicon.ico hold?

16, 32 and 48 px cover browsers and Windows, and are the default. Add 64 to 256 for sharp icons on large screens. All sizes go in one ICO file.

What do I put in my pages?

Put all the files at the root of your site and add the link lines the tool gives into the head of every page. The same lines are in head.html inside the ZIP.

What picture makes the best favicon?

An SVG, or a square PNG with a see-through background of at least 512 px. A picture that is not square can be padded or cropped. A simple logo reads better at 16 px.
