Video to images

Take still pictures from an MP4, WebM or MOV clip as PNG or JPG files: keep the moment you paused on, one every few seconds within a part you choose, or a number of pictures spread evenly over the whole video, then save them one by one or as a ZIP. It runs in your browser and the video is sent nowhere.

Getting the tool ready…This tool needs JavaScript. If you still see this after a few seconds, JavaScript is switched off in your browser or the page did not load completely: turn JavaScript on or reload the page.

How to use it

  1. Choose or drop a video (MP4, WebM, MOV or MKV, as far as this browser plays them). It shows in the page, ready to play.
  2. Choose how to take pictures: play, pause on the picture you want and press "Keep this picture" (as often as you like); one every few seconds within a part you choose; or a number spread evenly over the whole video (up to 300). Then press "Take the pictures".
  3. Choose PNG or JPG and the size. The pictures appear as thumbnails: save them one by one or press "Save all as a ZIP". File names give the time in the video, such as clip-00m12s345.png.

Good to know

Your files stay on your device

Everything runs in your browser. The video and the pictures taken are not sent to freesabai's servers or anyone else's, and nothing is kept in the browser: close the page and it is all gone. Use it with clips you have the right to use. The site only counts that this page was opened and how many times a result was saved (no file names or contents, and you can turn counting off at the foot of the site; see the privacy policy).

Questions and answers

Is the picture exactly the frame I paused on?

Keep this picture uses what is shown at that moment. For every N seconds or N pictures, some browsers can only jump to keyframes, so a picture may be slightly off the time asked for.

Should I choose PNG or JPG?

PNG loses no detail but makes big files, good for screens and text. JPG files are much smaller, good for camera footage, and the quality can be set: at 90 it looks almost like the original.

How many pictures can I take?

Up to 300 at a time, every N seconds or N spread evenly. Save them one by one or together as one ZIP file; each file name tells the time of the picture in the video.
