SRT ⇄ VTT subtitle converter
Convert SRT to VTT for the web and browser players, or VTT to SRT for video players and TVs. Garbled Thai subtitles are fixed on the way, and you can shift the whole file when the subtitles come early or late. In your browser; the file is not sent anywhere.

How to use it
- Choose an .srt or .vtt file. The other format is picked for you (SRT to VTT or back).
- If the subtitles do not match the sound, enter the seconds to shift: 1.5 makes them a second and a half later, -2 two seconds earlier.
- Check the result, then press "Save the subtitles" to get the file with the same name and the new ending.
Good to know
- Garbled Thai subtitles (TIS-620 files, or UTF-8 opened the wrong way) are guessed and fixed; if the guess is wrong pick another "how to read the file". Saved files are always UTF-8.
- Times that go below zero after a shift are set to 00:00:00.000 and counted. Cues out of order or ending before they start are pointed out, not reordered.
- VTT to SRT: NOTE, STYLE and REGION blocks, cue settings and colour/voice tags are dropped because SRT has none; italic, bold and underline stay. SRT to VTT: <font> tags and {\an8} position codes are dropped.
- Saved SRT files use Windows line ends (CRLF), which nearly every player reads.
- Files up to 20 MB; other subtitle formats such as .ass, .ssa or .sub are not supported.
Your files stay on your device
Everything runs in your browser. The file you open is not sent to freesabai's server or anyone else's, and nothing is kept in the browser: close the page and it is gone. The site only counts that this page was opened and how many times a result was saved (never the file name or content; you can turn counting off at the bottom of the site, see the privacy policy).

Questions and answers
How to convert SRT to VTT?
Choose the .srt file; VTT is already picked as the target. Check the result and save to get a UTF-8 .vtt file for the web and browser players.
Thai subtitles show as garbage, how to fix?
Open the subtitle file here. The Thai encoding is guessed (TIS-620, for example); if it still looks wrong pick another reading, then save as UTF-8. If your TV still shows garbage, tick the BOM option.
Subtitles are out of sync, can I shift them?
Yes. Enter seconds in the shift box: plus makes them later, minus earlier, decimals allowed such as 1.5 or -0.8. Every cue moves by the same amount.
