Fraction worksheets

One topic a sheet: shade shapes to show fractions, write the fraction a shaded shape shows, simplify, compare with > < =, add and subtract fractions with the same denominator, or find the GCD and LCM. Circles or bars in 2 to 12 parts, fractions written the textbook way, new problems every time, with a key.

How to use it

  1. Pick the kind of sheet, one topic a sheet. For shading and writing fractions pick circles, bars or both; for comparing pick whether the denominators are the same (numerators only) or different.
  2. Pick 8, 12 or 16 problems. The sheet appears on the right at once; "New random sheet" gives another.
  3. Press "Print / Save as PDF". The answer key is the last page: shaded shapes for the shading sheet, fractions in their simplest form for the others.

Questions and answers

Which fraction sheets are there?

One topic a sheet: shade a shape to show a fraction, write the fraction shown, simplify, compare (greater, less, equal), add and subtract (same denominator), or GCD and LCM. 8 to 16 problems; shapes in 2 to 12 parts.

Does the key simplify the answers?

Yes. For simplifying and for sums and differences the key gives the simplest form (divided by the GCD), and a whole is written as 1. Every simplifying problem can really be simplified.

Are fractions written as 3/4 or stacked?

Stacked, the numerator over a line over the denominator as in textbooks, on the sheet and in the key. The answer box of the writing sheet is a stacked blank too.
