Telling time worksheets

New clock faces every time: read the clock and write the time, draw the hands for a time given, or match clocks with times. From whole hours down to the minute, with an answer key in figures, and Thai time words if you teach them.

How to use it

  1. Pick the kind of sheet: read the clock and write the time (a line under each clock), a time given and the hands to draw (empty faces), or clocks to match with times (clocks on the left, times on the right in a shuffled order).
  2. Pick how fine the times are: whole hours for the youngest, then half hours, quarter hours, 5 minutes and the minute. Pick how many clocks to a page. The sheet appears on the right at once; "New random sheet" gives another.
  3. Press "Print / Save as PDF". The answer key is the last page, with the times in figures; for the drawing sheet it shows the clocks with their hands.

Questions and answers

Does the hour hand move with the minutes?

Yes, as on a real clock: at 3:30 the short hand sits halfway between 3 and 4. The short thick hand is the hour hand, the long thin one the minute hand; the face has the numbers 1-12 and a mark every minute.

Can the key give the time in Thai words?

Yes. Tick Thai time words: the times then run over 24 hours, the sheet names the part of the day beside each clock, and the key gives both 14:30 and บ่ายสองโมงครึ่ง, in the Royal Institute style.

Which kinds of sheet are there?

Read the clock and write the time, a time given and the hands to draw on an empty face, and clocks to match with times. Times to the hour, half hour, quarter hour, 5 minutes or the minute, 6, 9 or 12 clocks to a page.
