Number lines
Number lines with ticks: pick a range (0-20, 0-100 …) and a step (1, 2, 5, 10 or your own), then fill in the missing numbers, skip count from a random start, or leave the line blank with only the first and last number. Print 4, 6 or 8 lines to a page with a filled-in answer key.

How to use it
- Choose the range, the step, the kind and how many lines. The sheet appears on the right at once; with missing numbers or skip counting, "New random sheet" picks new gaps or new starting numbers.
- "My own" step takes any whole number: 25 for a 0-1000 line, or 3 to practise the three times table. If that makes more than 41 ticks, the page asks for a bigger step or a shorter range.
- Press "Print / Save as PDF". The answer key on the last page draws every line with every number (untick it to leave it out).
Good to know
- Every fifth tick is big (on a line of 11 ticks or fewer, all are). Lines of up to 26 ticks number every tick; longer lines number only the big ticks, so the numbers do not overlap.
- Missing numbers leaves out 30-50% of the numbers at random, never the first or the last; a box under the tick shows where to write. Skip counting gives the first number only, and the child counts on by the step to the end of the line.
- If the step does not divide the range (0-20 by 3, say), the line ends at the last multiple within the range (18).
- Pair it with the hundreds chart when teaching skip counting, and the math drills once the sums are ready.

Questions and answers
How are the missing numbers chosen?
30-50% of the numbers are left out at random, never the first or the last, with a box under the tick to write in. New random sheet picks new gaps, and each line on a page has gaps of its own.
What can my own step be?
Any whole number from 1: 3 for the three times table, or 25 for a 0-1000 line. A line holds at most 41 ticks; past that the page asks for a bigger step or shorter range. A step that does not divide the range ends early.
How does skip counting differ from missing numbers?
Skip counting gives one number only, a random start within the range, such as 14 counting by 2, and the child counts on to the end of the line. Missing numbers gives most of the numbers and leaves some out.
