Word search maker

Type 3-20 words in Thai or English and get a grid of letters that hides them, with the list of words under it and an answer key that rings each word. Thai words are hidden by cell, a consonant with its vowel and tone marks together, so the grid reads like a classroom sheet.

How to use it

  1. Type 3-20 words, one per line (pasting a column from Excel or a chat works). The grid appears on the right at once.
  2. Pick the grid size; "Automatic" grows the grid until the words fit. Tick "diagonally" or "backwards" to make it harder. "New random sheet" gives another grid from the same words.
  3. Press "Print / Save as PDF". The puzzle is the first page and the answer key the next one (untick "Print the answer key" to leave it out).

Questions and answers

How are Thai words hidden in the grid?

A cell holds one consonant with the vowel above or below it and its tone mark; the vowels written before (เ แ โ) and after (ะ า ำ) a consonant take a cell of their own. The empty cells get plain consonants.

How many words, and how long can they be?

3 to 20 words, one per line. A word cannot be longer than the grid; with the automatic size the grid grows until the words fit, up to 20 cells. Repeated words and one-letter words are left out.

Which directions are the words hidden in?

Left to right and top to bottom by default. Tick the options to add diagonals or backwards words for a harder puzzle. The answer key rings every word.
